Men Suffering From Domestic Violence: We Must Help Them Too!

Due to their physical strength and even though they are often stronger than women, it can be difficult for men to react and defend themselves when they are pushed, hit, pushed around. Indeed, their response can have extreme consequences.

By pushing their companions away, they can make them fall violently, or even fracture their wrist by grabbing their arm violently. The consequences of these acts can then reverse the situation and the abusive woman will become assaulted, because it is she who will have the marks. The situation being very complex, some men let it go and do not know how to react. They let time pass, thinking it will work out.

So how do you react when you are a man in the face of this violence?

Unfortunately, it has been proven that when adequate measures are not taken, situations of violence do not improve and deteriorate. These extreme situations, where you may be hurt yourself, even if your wife has less strength than you, are more common than you might think. This situation is terrible for both you and your children.

In these situations of violence, there is also the problem of psychological manipulation that can be seen in particular in child custody cases. If at some point you allow the situation to develop, you risk, by defending yourself, injuring your partner and finding yourself in a situation where it is she who will accuse you of having abused her.

It is thus very important to see the elements that you can have to defend yourself without accusing and attacking for free. Solutions must be found which will allow a separation in which your visitation and accommodation rights will be protected and where you can maintain a quality bond with your children. You need to be able to give the real context to your relatives and legal professionals, in order to have the elements that will help your lawyers to protect your rights.
